Sewer camera inspection in Rockland
GD Plumbing uses a camera to inspect sewer and drain lines for homes and businesses in Rockland, Prescott-Russell and the Ottawa area. The camera shows what is blocking or damaging the line, so our licensed plumbers can explain the cause and your options. Call 613-446-5959, Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm.
When do I need a sewer camera inspection?
- Drains that clog again and again
- Sewage backups, or slow drains in several fixtures at once
- Gurgling sounds from drains or toilets
- A sewer smell, or wet or sunken patches in the yard
- You are buying an older home and want to know the condition of the drain line
What should I do if my drains keep backing up?
- Cut back on water use: fewer showers, no extra laundry.
- Avoid harsh chemical drain cleaners, which can damage pipes.
- If sewage is coming up through a floor drain, keep people and pets away from it.
- Note when it happens, for example after laundry or heavy rain, and tell your plumber.
What do we do on a sewer camera inspection?
- Run a camera through the drain or sewer line.
- Look for blockages, cracks, roots, offset joints or a collapsed section.
- Show you what the camera sees.
- Explain the cause and your options.
How can I avoid drain line problems?
- Do not flush wipes, even ones labelled flushable.
- Keep grease and food waste out of the drains.
- Have a drain that keeps clogging looked at early, before it backs up.
- Know where your main cleanout is so a plumber can get to the line.
What affects the cost of a sewer camera inspection?
Every drain line is different. The main factors are:
- How easy it is to reach the line, for example through a cleanout
- The length and layout of the line
- How blocked or damaged the line is
- Whether the line has to be cleared first so the camera can pass

Frequently asked questions
What is a sewer camera inspection?
A small waterproof camera on a flexible cable is fed through your drain or sewer line. It sends live video, so the plumber can see blockages, cracks, roots or other damage without digging.
Why do my drains keep clogging?
A line that clogs again and again may have roots, a crack, an offset joint or a buildup that clearing alone does not fix. A camera inspection shows which one it is.
Should I get a camera inspection when buying an older home?
It can be worthwhile. Older drain lines can be cracked, rooted or damaged, and you cannot see them from the surface. The inspection shows the condition of the line.
Does the inspection fix the problem?
No. It finds the cause. Once we know what is wrong, our plumbers explain your options.
Do you inspect drain lines in commercial buildings?
Yes. GD Plumbing does both residential and commercial plumbing.
How much does a sewer camera inspection cost?
It depends on how easy the line is to reach and how long and how blocked it is. Prices vary from job to job, so we give a quote for each one. Call 613-446-5959 or request a quote.
Where do we do this work?
